Lampwork - "Torch" made beads
Many years ago, before propane and oxygen torches, beads were made over small wick type lamps. That is where the term "lampwork"
originated. Lampwork beads are made with a type of soft glass or hard glass. This glass comes in rods about the thickness
of a pencil and in many different colors from transparent to pastel and more. The rod is heated in the flame until it becomes
soft, and then is manipulated on a metal rod called a mandrel into bead shapes and designs. The final step is a process called
annealing which hardens the bead over several hours in a kiln .
The Eternity Part
While I am working with the molten glass I inlay a small amount of cremains into the glass creation and then immediately
encase it again with another layer of molten transparent glass. This technique encases and keeps the ashes forever secure
under a transparent layer of glass, allowing you to see the beautiful galaxy of ashes through the glass. With the vessels,
ashes can either be encased within the vessel, or they can be placed inside of the vessel.
History of TL Beads
I am a self taught lampwork artisan. I started making glass beads in June 2007. After a friend insisted I could do this,
I bought a beginners kit and dove right in. It wasn’t long before I was hooked. My beginners kit was set aside and I
upgraded to a more professional setup. And now I am here today with you.. I create beauty with passion and love!
My Passion, Promise & Appreciation
I sincerely appreciate that you are entrusting me with your loved ones ashes. Designing beads that touch your heart is
what makes me happy. I promise to make your “Virtual Eternity Bead” so that it can be worn or displayed as a personal
and private expression of eternal companionship and love. My “Virtual Eternity Beads” are lovingly and carefully
created by me. I personally and respectfully create each piece using only a small amount of cremains from your loved one or
beloved pet.
What I Need From You
About 1/4 tsp. of fine clean cemains. Place them in a secure container such as a plastic bag, film canister, pill bottle
etc. If mailing, please insure you purchase insurance. Your creation will be insured on it’s return to you.
